As much as I prefer writing lengthy papers over taking timed exams, I still dread the whole process. When I'm not jazzed about my paper topic--that's even worse. And then it becomes an obsession with the making the word count.
Well, my classmates, who are also struggling with our latest assignments, are squealing with delight over this:
Written? Kitten!
Type directly into the box*, and every time you write, say, 100 words, you are rewarded with a picture of a kitten, randomly chosen from Flickr. The creators wanted "to make something a bit like writeordie but cuter and fuzzier".
It should be noted that I'm not a huge fan of cats. It's me. They make my throat close up and I have little ability to decipher their kitty demeanor and it freaks me out that I can't tell if they're about to pounce claws-out on my face or what. However, I concede to the coolness (and effectiveness) of this program and I'm not so cold-hearted that sleepy kittens don't make me go "awwwww".
Try it.
*Please don't read the screenshot too closely. It's just a loosely-formed argument for why Amazon needs librarians**, half of which I deleted and rewrote. See? The beauty of freewriting before revision.
**Everyone needs librarians, even if they don't know it or if they deny it.
